Loft Insulation Grants

Loft Insulation Grants

Loft insulation helps prevent 25% of heat loss through the attic. The insulation materials (wool, glass or polystyrene), installation costs, and labour costs are covered under the grants.

Eligibility

  • Accessible, safe loft space with adequate ventilation
  • Existing insulation 100mm or less in thickness
  • No significant structural damage, rot, or water ingress in the roof area.
Cavity Wall Insulation Grants

Cavity Wall Insulation Grants

Cavity wall insulation fills the gap between two wall layers, preventing 35% of heat loss. Polystyrene beads are mostly used insulation material on cavity walls under the grants.

Eligibility

  • The home hasn’t had cavity wall insulation before.
  • Good masonry and brickwork condition with no significant cracks
  • Cavity width at least 35mm (preferably 50mm or more)
  • No evidence of rising or penetrating damp

Solid Wall Insulation Grants

This insulation works for both internal and external walls, adding a layer of material coated with render or cladding. Mineral wool or expanded polystyrene is are ideal insulation material used for solid wall insulation.

Eligibility

  • No active decay or rot in the construction
  • Good structural condition
  • No evidence of algae growth, moss, or mould
  • Clean guttering and functioning downpipes

Floor Insulation (Under-floor & Solid Floor)

Inadequate floor insulation causes 15% heat loss; both ECO4 & GBIS provide grants for underfloor and solid floor insulation.

Eligibility

  • No evidence of rising damp or penetrating moisture from groundwater (Solid Floor)
  • At least 1 metre of headroom underneath the floor (Under Floor)
  • No active subsidence or settlement issues (Solid Floor).
